I’m a software engineer with over 21 years of experience and a proud member of the Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE) movement.
My journey toward financial independence kicked off back in 2004, when I got my first software job. At the time, I didn’t know much about saving or investing. But a 401(k) benefits booklet caught my eye, and within its pages, I discovered the mind-blowing power of compound interest. That was the “aha” moment that started everything.
I went from a typical spender to someone obsessed with optimizing money. I read everything I could about investing, wealth building, and early retirement. Fast forward to today: I hit my financial independence number at age 43. But here’s the twist — I’m still working.
Why? Because life is unpredictable. I’m padding my savings a bit more to give myself extra cushion for the unknowns: healthcare surprises, family needs, or whatever curveballs the future throws. But the key difference now is that I’m working because I choose to, not because I have to.
This blog is where I share what I’ve learned (and continue to learn) about money, mindset, and the path to freedom. Whether you’re just starting out, somewhere in the messy middle, or already eyeing your own FI milestone, I’m glad you’re here.
